Perm Gas Turbines. Gas Transmission and Power Generation. Informational and technical magazine «500 GAS TURBINES FOR FUEL AND POWER SECTOR». Special issue No.14, January 2009.

EDITORIAL NOTE

Dear Readers!

Let us call your attention to the special issue of this informational and technical newsletter that focuses on an important event in the lives of Aviadvigatel OJSC and Perm Engine Co. OJSC (PMZ): 15 years on the industrial engine-building market and the sale of jubilee 500th gas turbine.

At the beginning of the nineties of the past century our companies' specialists assimilated a new line of activity - industrial gas turbines. In only 15 years, two families of gas turbines for gas compressor plants and gas turbine power plants (GTPP) based on D-30 and PS-90A aircraft engines, ranging from 2.5 to 6 MW and from 10 to 25 MW were developed and mastered in serial production. In total 98 model types of gas turbines have been developed.

Such quick-paced development of highly sophisticated gas turbine machinery is due to the high intellectual and professional level of the specialists of the Perm engineering and technological school, availability of up-to-date research and production facilities, consolidation of the entire product development cycle - from engineering to serial production and a wide range of the after-sale services.

A distinctive role in establishing Perm industrial gas turbine engine-building was played by a strategic partner of Perm engine-builders - Gazprom Transgaz Chaikovsky Ltd which became a true proving ground for testing and further improvement of our industrial engines.

The fact that Perm gas turbines are in demand is due to high performance and reliability of base aircraft engines. Nowadays, gas turbines and power plants developed by Aviadvigatel and produced in series by PMZ are widely used by the leading enterprises of the Russian fuel and power sector. The circle of overseas customers also widens.

Simultaneously with the development of the advanced product, Perm designers perform laborious work in order to improve and increase the ease of maintenance. It allows our specialists not only to consolidate their market position, but also to reach new levels in the developing modern market for industrial gas turbines.

The year 2009 is special for the citizens of Perm: PMZ turns 75, and Aviadvigatel will celebrate its 70th anniversary. Beyond any doubt, the anniversary year is going to be the time for both acknowledgement of the work performed and
a new milestone marking the achievements of Perm gas turbine engine-building engineering and technological tradition.
