OLGA OSIPOVA

In October 2008 Aviadvigatel, OJSC housed a visiting session of the Academic Council of Perm State Technical University (PGTU) chaired by Mr. Petrov, PGTU's rector.

Presentation of the design company made by Mr. Inozemtsev, Doctor of Engineering, Aviadvigatel General Designer, head of Aviation Engines Department of the PGTU, became the key insight of Perm scientists' visit.

An unorthodox format of the meeting allowed the members of the Academic Council to visit the assembly shop and to see with their own eyes the process of aircraft engine creation. The guests talked with great interest with the specialists of the company`s combustion systems design department, automatic control system department, information computation systems department.

In the course of discussion of Perm design school prospects Alexander Inozemtsev drew his colleagues' attention to the following crucial points:

  • high complexity and knowledge content in designing and producing aviation engines and industrial aero-derivatives;
  • high demand for fully trained staff who master both gas turbine engine construction theory and modern information technology;
  • commitment to provide newcomers with all possibilities to practice, training and obtain permanent employment.

A series of training manuals under the common title of Gas Turbine Engines, issued in October 2008, was presented during the Academic Council's session. Writing team: Mr. Inozemtsev, Aviadvigatel, OJSC's General Designer; Mr. Nikhamkin, Perm State Technical University's professor; Mr. Sandratsky, commanding employee of Aviadvigatel, OJSC.

The series includes three manuals recommended by the RF Department of Education for teaching students of higher education establishments: Principals of Aviation Engines and Power Plants Designing, Aviation Engines and Power Plants Dynamics and Durability, Aviation Engines and Power Plants Automatic and Control Equipment. Systems.

The manuals will be useful not only for the students studying the disciplines stated above, making designs at the end of a course and preparing a graduation project, but also for postgraduates and specialists who design, produce and operate gas turbine engines. Publication of the manuals is dedicated to the memory of Pavel Alexandrovitch Soloviev, the General Designer of Aviadvigatel Design Bureau.

As Vassily Petrov put it, such visiting sessions of the Academic Council are of considerable practical importance. Scientists and their fellow practical experts have the possibility to discuss subjects of mutual interest and  bring out constructive proposals to one another. The most important goal is to exchange views on the level of training required by the company, and what employment positions are available for our graduates.
