JSC "UEC-Perm Engines" received a certificate for the mass production of new PD-14 engines

At the end of the last year, JSC "UEC-Perm Engines" received the approval certificate validating the compliance of the production organization with the requirements of the Federal Aviation Regulations for production of PD-14 aircraft sustainer engines. This document permits a serial manufacture of PD-14 engines and their supply to the customers for installation on the MC-21 production aircraft.

The certification process consisted of two stages. First of all, the commission, which included the representatives of the Federal Air Transport Agency and the Federal Aviation Regulations of the Russian Federation, reviewed the documents of the Quality management system (QMS) for compliance with FAR-21 requirements. At the second stage, the experts visited the facilities of the company in order to assess on-site the manufacturing procedures, assembly and testing of the aircraft engines. Emphasis was placed on design documentation, software for test and acceptance, nondestructive test methods, metrology management, interaction with suppliers and the quality of the outsourced products and services, storage and transportation of materials, parts and assembly units. The subject of the most thorough inspection was the data on implementation of the “Overall action plan for launching PD-14 mass production”.

Also, within the scope of certification process of PD-14 production, qualification tests of one of the new engines were held, which proved the conformity of the engine performance with the design documentation.

Sergey Kharin, executive director of JSC "UEC-Perm Engines":

- Successful certification confirms that JSC "UEC-Perm Engines» and all cooperation are ready for mass production of the PD-14. Our plans for 2021 include the production of three PD-14 engines. One of them will be used as a spare engine for the flight tests of the new MC-21-310 airliner. The other two are intended to create a pool of engines for JSC "UEC-PE", which will subsequently be used to maintain the airworthiness of the MC-21 aircraft fleet of the Russian airlines.
