AVIADVIGATEL will initiate the development of a new advanced family of aero-engines for civil aviation with effect from 2008
At the meeting with young specialists of Aviadvigatel the Managing Director and General Designer, Mr. Alexander Inozemtsev, summed up the results of the last year and gave the plans for nearest future.
As Alexander Inozemtsev said the last year was rather difficult for the Company and there were some reasons for that. He mentioned: "For the first time for the last 5 years we did not receive adequate financing support from the State. I mean two projects, which are financed from the Federal budget. These are the PS-90A1 and PS-90A2 aero-engines development projects. For the above contracts we laid our accounts for 200 million rubles. Our company was in great want of these funds. But, unfortunately, we did not receive money due to confusions occurred when the Addendum to the RF Government Federal Target-oriented Program for Development of Russian Civil Aeronautics for 2002-2010 and for Period till 2015 was executed." Nevertheless, Aviadvigatel's business plan for the year of 2006 was accomplished by 92%. Mr. Inozemtsev said that such a result was achieved thanks intensive growth of gas turbine gensets sales.
Alexander Inozemtsev informed on the future plans of the Company. He said: "From the next year our new project will have serious state financing. The project covers the development of an advanced family of engines for civil aviation. We will develop a new gas generator, which will be then used as a platform for the family of aero-engines with thrust ranging from 7 - 20 tons. This will make us to feel on firm ground at the aviation equipment market, which is severe competitive, for the nearest 30-40 years. Practically all companies and enterprises of Russia will be involved in the project along with the companies of Perm Motors Group. These are CIAM, "Saturn" SPA, "Salut" Production Company, Klimov Works and others. We signed the Agreement in August last year. All companies and enterprises participating in the Agreement make no bones of the leading position of Aviadvigatel in this project and are ready to act as sub-contractors. This will be the largest project in the aviation history. Nothing of the kind has been done since the Soviet times".
According to the General Designer's words it is extremely challenging project thus requiring the highest parameters to be established. "If we are success in the development of such a gas generator, it will be the best in the world and we will have a family of aero-engines able to meet competition. These engines will be suited to any aircraft, both Russian and Chinese, "Boeings" and "Air Buses". Any engine of the family will be competitive to what will appear at that time at the world market. In general, we will be able to pretend to the world market segment, which covers 60% of predicted sales till the year of 2025".
