PERM MOTORS GROUP: current position and outlooks
On March 14, 2007 the General Director of Perm Motors Group Management Company, Mr. Valeriy Zheglov met with the top managers of the leading mass media agencies of Perm region.
The following representatives of Perm mass media agencies took part in the discussions: the editor-in-chief of "Kommersant-Prikamie" newspaper Mr. Viacheslav Sukhanov, assistant to the editor-in chief of "Zvezda" newspaper Mr. Sergei Zhuravlev, the editor-in-chief of "Capital-Weekly" weekly journal Mrs. Natalia Kopylova, the editor-in-chief of "Novyi Kompanien" Mr. Igor Lobanov, the editor-in-chief of "Izvestiya-Permskiy Krai" newspaper Mr. Peter Kravchenko, the Director of "Perm" TV-company Mr. Valeriy Srergeev and the Managing Director of "Echo of Moscow" in Perm" radio station Mrs. Anastasia Lebedeva.
The most important and topic of the hour issues as regards the outlooks of future development of the Russian engine building industry in general and Perm engine building in particular were highlighted during the meeting. Among the other topics discussed were the balance between aero-engines and industrial engines in the business structure of Perm Motors, ecological problems that are being resolved by the Company, etc.
Mr. Zheglov informed the mass media representatives on the future plans of Perm engine companies. The monitoring of the Russian aircraft market constantly performed by the specialists of Ilyushin Finance Co. and other unindifferent companies allows saying with confidence that till the year of 2015 about 160 Perm-produced PS-90A2 aero-engines will be required for the aircraft industry. The cooperation of Perm Engine Company with Ilyushin Finance Co. is not limited by new engines orders only. The largest leasing company of Russia has already financed the development of the PS-90A1 aero-engine with thrust up to 17 400 kgf. The top leader of Perm Motors Group confirmed that the first PS-90A1 engines must be installed on the IL-96-400T aircraft in 2007 already. Now Perm Engine Company and Ilyushin Finance Co. are negotiating the manufacture of more than 20 engines of this type till the year of 2015.
When asking the questions of the leading journalists of the Perm region regarding the recent achievements in industrial engines production, Valeriy Zheglov informed that GTU-25P gas turbine was put into service at "Igrinskaya" Compressor Station of Permtransgaz. "This fact was a remarkable event not only for the Perm engine builders, but for Gazprom as well, because such machine for gas transportation has not been ever produced in Russia and overseas" - marked the top leader of Perm Motors. The efficiency of this gas turbine is one and only for 25 MW machines and is equal to 40%.
Energy supply to the leading Russian companies of the fuel and energy sector is the high-priority, time-urgent problem of the contemporary Russia. Perm engine companies are actively getting in the resolving of this problem. At present the Perm engine companies occupy about 15% at the Russian market of gas turbine gensets ranging from 2.5 MW to 30 MW. The most challenging segment of the market for the next 5-7 years is deemed to be the development and production of power generation machinery rated at 13-30 MW. For successful market development and so as to reach 20-25% of their participation in the market the Perm engine companies must not only implement projects for the development of a package based on the PS-90A aero-engine, but also must act as a system integrator (that is to perform "turn-key" construction at customer's facilities). As Mr. Zheglov said Perm Motors has already had similar experience with the production of Ural-Series gas turbine gensets for enterprises of Baskiria, Ivanovo, Tyumen, Surgut, Solikamsk. Among the last power generation facilities are Adria town in Italy, whereto two "Ural-4000" gensets were supplied, and Perm TEC-13 CHP plant, which configures with the first 16 MW gas turbine genset.
The management of Perm Motors Group is constantly concerned about the environment-friend condition of the companies' wastewaters. To settle ecological problems the specialists of Perm Motors Group have developed the Conception of Construction and Reconstruction of Water Handling Services Facilities, the so-called "ECOSTOK" Project, which was demonstrated to the journalists. Perm Motors Group companies are ready to invest more than 250 million Rubles for this project till the year of 2012.
As explained by Mr. Zheglov, the driving intellectual force of Perm Motors is Aviadvigatel Co., which has become the center, where the national project of the development of new family aero-engines based on a common gas generator is being implemented. The advanced developments of the Perm engine builders make it possible not only to initiate, but also to take the lead.
12-ton PS-12 twin-spool aero-engine forms the basis for the new family engine. The baseline engine is currently under preliminary design and it is supposed that the engine will be used in several Russian aircraft programs and in particular for equipping a future medium-haul passenger aircraft labeled as MS-21. Besides it is supposed that the PS-12 aero-engine will be installed on the joint Russian-Indian multi-purpose transport aircraft. The new engine will have better fuel efficiency (by 6-13%) and lower life cycle cost (by 15-20%) compared to the existing and future engines of similar thrust range.
