GTU-25P gas turbine availability for service at GASPROM manifolds is confirmed
At the Igrinskaya compressor station (Permtransgas) the interdepartmental test of the Ural GPA-25R-PS prototype gas-pumping unit has been successfully completed.
The natural gas centrifugal blowers as parts of the unit were driven by the GTU-25P gas turbine based on the PS-90GP-25 engine. The developer and manufacturer of the GTU-25P became the Perm Motors Group Management Company specialists. The engine has undergone very strict conditions of the acceptance test having laid down by Gasprom and completed 5 304 hours without overhaul.
The result of the committee's work was the signing of the Acceptance test certificate. It was pro-nounced by all of the specialists that the basic performance of the GTU-25P gas turbine which were obtained according to the outcomes of the preliminary and acceptance tests, meet the re-quirements of the Specs.
Furthermore, the Certificate goes that the Ural GPA-25R-PS gas-pumping unit and the GTU-25P gas turbine stand on the up-to-date technological level with their design and technological solutions. This allows to say with certainty about the competitiveness of the products of the Perm Motors in the rank of worldwide manufacturers of the gas-transport equipment.
By the resolution of the acceptance committee the unit was taken into commercial service.
Gasprom representatives recommended the production of a consignment consisting of 9 Ural-type gas-pumping units in the range of 25 MW and 12 PS-90GP-25 engines, what underlines once more the timeliness of development of the equipment for the gas transit of such power like with the GTU-25P and the GPA-25R-PS. In perspective there is its use at the North-European gas pipeline and the Altai gas pipeline which is intended for gas transportation to China.
While completing the committee's work Alexander Shaikhutdinov said, "Due to the close coopera-tion of the developer enterprises, manufacturers and operators we obtained a unit having the unit power of 25 MW the full-scale production and the quickest introduction into the manufacture of which will assist the gas-pumping industry."
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The GTU-25P gas turbine based on the PS-90A aero engine is one of the latest achievements of Perm engine builders in manufacture of industrial engines. The development and the introduction of the GTU-25P into the full-scale production were fulfilled within the framework of the implementation of the complex programme of Perm Territory enterprises cooperation with Gasprom OJSC.
Works on the development of the GTU-25P started in 1999. In a short space of time Aviadvigatel OJSC managed to accomplish the development of the project and produce the leading prototype. When designing the GTU-25P the experience of development and operation of its prototypes, the GTU-12P and the GTU-16P, was used by Perm specialists.
The basis of the GTU-25P is the PS-90GP-25 engine made in the circuit of a single-jet two-spool engine with a free power turbine. To obtain the best parameters in this rank of units and the high economic efficiency new turbines were developed, including the two-stage high pressure turbine, the one-stage low pressure turbine and the three-stage power turbine, with the use of the latest design techniques. This allowed to receive the efficiency of 39,5% in ISO conditions at 25,5 MW rated.
The leading prototype of the GTU-25P gas generator was produced and assembled for the special testing in August 2001. The full-size engine was assembled in June 2002. The baseline sample of the new unit was assembled in November 2003. Jointly with Permtransgas specialits the Number 1 GTU-25P was mounted at the Igrinskaya CS as part of the GPA-25R-PS gas-pumping unit, and in December 2003 the first start of the unit was performed. At present, the operating time has reached 9000 hours. In the process of starting/adjustment works and the subsequent test the basic perform-ance of the gas-pumping unit and the engine was defined, including the mode of the maximum power of 30 MW.
The Igrinskaya compressor station was installed at the Yamburg-Tula I and Yamburg-Tula II two-lined gas manifold. The section of each pipe is 1400 mm, what determines the big volume of the passing gas, therefore only a high-capacity unit such as the GTU-25P would be able to provide the required pressure of the inlet gas.
In addition to provision of the operation of the manifold within the framework of the implementation of the national project of Russia regions gasification the station supplies the ten thousand population of the settlement of Sharkan situated not far away, with gas. The volume of the pumped gas makes up about 150 mln m3 per twenty-four hours. Besides the Perm GTU-25P, at the station two more gas turbines of the similar power are installed which were manufactured in St. Petersburg. According to Deputy Head of the Igrinskaya CS Vladimir Liubivy, "The old machine is at the least two times big-ger by size, more than 100 tons of metal was used for it, its efficiency makes up 25 - 28%. The Perm unit is considerably more mobile with respect to the start, more dependable in service, with effi-ciency 39%. One must particularly note the terms of the after-sale service, which are beneficial for a customer. The GTU-25P is in demand at the gas technology market."
