First IL-76TD-90VD aircraft is ready for operation
May 6, 2006. In Tashkent (Uzbekistan) Tashkent Aviation Manufacturing Amalgamation transferred the first of two updated IL-76TD-90VD aircraft equipped with PS-90A-76 engine to Russian Volga-Dnepr Airline.
The ceremony of the aircraft transfer was taken place during the business visit of the Senior Vice Premier of Russia, Mr. Medvedev, to Uzbekistan.
The aircraft is updated by installing PS-90A-76 engine and new generation avionics thus making it to be in compliance with ICAO standards and allowing its operation worldwide without any restrictions.
The new aircraft will be displayed at ILA'2006 Berlin Air Show. As the President of Volga-Dnepr Airline, Alexander Isaikin, said "The demonstration of the updated IL-76 at the Air Show will be the milestone not only of the aircraft commercial service, but also will initiate the next series PS-90A-powered aircraft entry to the market of air freight.
It is expected that the second updated IL-76 aircraft will be transferred to the Airline in the second half of the current year.
