Assistant to USA ambassador in Russia visited PERM MOTORS

On May 11, 2005 the delegation headed by the assistant to USA ambassador in Russia, John Beyrle, paid a visit to Perm Engine Co. to familiarize with the company's productions.

The US delegation, besides Mr. Beyrle, was made up of the representatives of US Consulate in Ekaterinburg and Moscow Office of United Technologies Corp. (UTC), as the largest shareholder of the Perm Engine Co.

The American guests and top managers of the Perm Engine Co. discussed the outcomes of the company's business achieved in the last year, the outlooks of the Perm Engine Co. development in future and the cooperation with Pratt & Whitney (UTC company) as well.

The Managing Director of Perm Engine Co., Sergei Smolin, noted that for the time being the Perm Engine Co.is one of the main suppliers of new gas turbines for GAZPROM's gas compressor stations and power generation packages. Perm gas turbines ranging from 2.5 to 25 MW are currently used in such applications that have essential importance for Russia and in particular in the pipelines of Yamal-Europe and Blue Stream (Russia-Turkey) projects. These are operated at the Purtazovskaya compressor station, gas boost compressor stations in the Tumen region. One of the main reasons of the demand in Perm gas turbine machinery is their high reliability of operation in severe climatic conditions of Far North.

Mikhail Antonov, Vice Governor of the Perm region, who attended the meeting, paid the attention to the key role of the Perm Engine Co. in the development of the mechanical engineering of the Perm region. Mikhail Antonov also stated that the Region Administration has widely supported the projects of Perm Engine Co. aimed at the expansion of orders from GAZPROM and the Common Grids of Russia.

After the meeting with the company's top managers, the guests made a tour to the PS-90A assembly workshop and vanes machining & assembly workshop of the Perm Engine Co. The latter is located in the building that was reconstructed with Pratt & Whitney investments attracted thereto.
