The company presented a new generation engine family at MAKS-2009 Air Show

On August 19, at MAKS-2009 International Aviation & Space Salon, the presentation of advanced project "New Generation Advanced Turbofan Engine Family for Short- and Mid-Range Regional Jets" took place. The presentation was held by Alexander Inozemtsev, project manager, general designer of Aviadvigatel OJSC, Igor Maksimov, chief designer of Aviadvigatel OJSC, and Mikhail Dicheskul, managing director of Perm Engine Company OJSC.

The PD-14 engine is the basic engine of the advanced turbofan family and is designed for new short- and mid-range regional jets MS‑21 and carriers. The project development started a few years ago; the first specification from Yakovlev Design Bureau is dated from the end of 2007. In July 2008 Aviadvigatel OJSC successfully defended an advanced engine family concept. The main business idea of the concept is to find uniform engineering and design solutions for development of aircraft and industrial engines family with wide power and thrust range.
As Igor Maksimov, chief designer of Aviadvigatel OJSC, said "the project now is on the stage of necessary scientific-technical groundwork making and key technologies development to build new advanced engine. Aviadvigatel OJSC plans to build a gas generator demonstrator by the end of 2010. It is scheduled to implement the project and to market the new 9-18 ton-force thrust engine family in Russia and abroad by 2015-2016.
Today rigid requirements to economy, life cycle costs, and conformity with modern noise and emission ecostandarts are put forward the project. The main advantages of PD-14 engine relative to modern analogs are 10-15 % reduction of specific fuel consumption, 15-20 % cutting of life cycle costs, lowering of noise and emission level.
The advanced engine is designed in wide cooperation of leading engine-building companies under the direction of United Engine-Building Corporation (ODK). In 2008 Aviadvigatel OJSC was defined to be head developer of engine family, and Perm Engine Company OJSC was defined to be main mass manufacturer.
At MAKS-2009 Aviadvigatel OJSC presents parts of unified gas generator such as first stage high pressure compressor rotor wheel, full-size combustor, and high pressure turbine components.
