OJSC "Perm Engine Co." Preliminary work results for the period of 2009

Last year was quite a busy year for Perm motor builders dealing with an aviation and industrial engine production for the Russian aviation industry, gas pipeline system and power engineering.

The preliminary results of the products' sales, manufactured by OJSC "Perm Engine Co." show that a significant work has been done in order to supply goods under the existing contracts.

The production program of the company in 2009 remained on the level of 2008. Thus in 2009 25 new PS-90A engines, 35 new PS-90A -based and 12 new D-30- based gas turbines were sold.

In 2009 the total income of OJSC "Perm Engine Co." and its technologically associated companies remained on the level of 2008 and amounted to 13 billion 423 million rubles.

Besides in June 2009 OJSC "Perm Engine Co." had its 75th anniversary.  That year Dmitriy Medvedev, the president of the Russian Federation, congratulated and thanked the company and its team for "a big contribution to the development of the Russian machine building industry and its successful production results".  This appreciation is a sign of respect of the hard work made both by the current workers and those who used to work at the company before. At the moment there's a firm demand on all the company's products - aviation engines, gas turbines, aviation gearboxes and transmissions.

In 2009 OJSC "Perm Engine Co." began to deliver industrial gas turbines for "North European Gas Pipeline", which is one of the strategically important projects of Russia. At the end of the year the company shipped 4 gas turbines rated at 16 MW (GTU-16P) to be installed as a part of a gas-pumping unit at the compressor station "Elizavetinskaya".

Moreover in 2009 OJSC "Perm Engine Co." has become one of the companies, which have a state support from the government and can receive state credit guarantees. The total sum of the state credit guarantees for OJSC "Perm Engine Co." amounts to 2 484,5 million rubles.

Under the current shortage of liquidity the company is still able to continue the realization of its long-term investment program and has received 625 million rubles for the realization of the re-equipment program, for the production of new items and the improvement its products' quality.   This investment program shall be realized in 2010 as well and the funding shall be about 1 billion rubles.

The workers of the company are currently trying to fulfill the orders under some very important state contracts and primarily those, which relate to PD-14 engine: they are working out the technology for the production of long-life flame tubes and blades of high-temperature turbines. This work shall be also done in 2010.

In 2009 some measures were taken to ensure the reliability of PS-90A engines and to improve their operation parameters.

Last year a "lean production" technology was being implemented at the company, that should significantly reduce the amount of unfinished products and costs, increasing the production efficiency at the same time.

There's also a production plan for 2010-2011 meant for fulfilling the orders of "United Engine-Building Corporation", international and local air companies, which trust the Russian modern aviation equipment.  There shall also begin the series production of PS-90A2 engine, that is a modification of PS-90A engine as well as the production of some industrial gas turbines rated at 16MW and 25MW for the Russian gas pipeline system.

Under the program of improvement of its production and commercial activities, OJSC "Perm Engine Co." is planning to put some new equipment into service and try to reduce the production cycle and repair time of PS-90A engines.  Some further actions shall be taken to reduce the production costs of the series products and to improve their trouble-free operation.

OJSC "Perm Engine Co." deals with a series production of aviation military and civil engines and industrial gas turbines for electrical power stations and gas transportation.

OJSC "Perm Engine Co." is a member of the "United Engine- Building Corporation", which is a 100% affiliate company of the United Industrial Corporation "Oboronprom" dealing with the engine building assets.

The United Industrial Corporation "Oboronprom" is a diversified company, established in 2002. It comprises the state corporation "Russian Technologies". The company specializes in helicopter building (OJSC "Russian Helicopters"), engine building (Managing Company "United Engine- Building Corporation"), etc. The total income of the company for the period of 2008 is more than 100 billion rubles.
